Pinkstone Pictures Zazzle Store

Pinkstone Pictures Light Paintings Now Available on Zazzle

We create unique artwork using Kinetic Photography which we like to call Light Paintings. Using different light sources and various shutter speeds enables us to capture vibrant colors and abstract shapes to give you a strong visual impact.

We have had many exhibitions in the UK over the years but the cost of setting up a stand can be extremely expensive. My husband and I have spent many an exhibition, not only painting the walls that the artwork will be displayed on, but then figuring out how it will all come together ready for the show opening. Many halls only allow you in a few days before, so there's a lot of organization and planning needed.

One way to show our work was to attend smaller, often cheaper art fairs but again time and money is always a big issue. We were both working full-time and using our vacation time which leaves nothing spare for holidays away.

Now we live in the US and whilst we have not yet made any arrangements to showcase our artwork at exhibitions and fairs we thought a great new way to display our work would be to try Zazzle.

Zazzle offers a wide range of products and we only select those items that we think will be complimentary to each other. We've started with canvases for the pieces that we used to display on Diasec.

We hope you'll stay a while to find out how we created some of the designs...you may be surprised what we used to make them.

Christmas Time

Stripes is born...Color is reinvented

Stripes was captured using the Christmas Lights in the famous area of London Town called Carnaby Street, not far from Oxford Circus. Our photography technique really benefits from late night roams especially in the Autumn/Winter months when the sun disappears quickly and you can go out earlier than you would in the long days of Summer.

Most people have trouble guessing how we managed to create this very popular piece using only the colorful lights from Carnaby Street.

It went through various different variations before the final winning photo appeared as you see below.

Useful Guides

Sometimes you need a little extra help from people in the know. Here are a couple of recommendations to inspire and a little glimpse at the history behind interior design.

Blue Light, Green Light, Pink Light..

Whilst playing around with a number of different light sources all scattered together, Etherial was born.

Again, this technique can take a while to produce something that would be considered "art", but when you finally press the button on your camera and out pops an amazing piece of art that could never be reproduced, it just has to be put on canvas or our favorite medium Acrylic.

If you imagine watching those wonderful Natural History programs, it's a little like that, you sometimes have to wait hours for the perfect shot.

What stays in Vegas...

Doesn't necessarily always stay in Vegas

Whilst on a trip to the light capital of the world, Las Vegas, Nevada, we ventured out one night under the warmth left over from the sun. Actually it's probably the warmth generated by the thousands of lights, but thanks to the millions of spectacular colored lights that you literally trip over everywhere you go, Quartz was just one of the many amazing shots we managed to take on our trip.

Portfolio - A Selection of other Work

We love photography and art, and we can also do what would be classed as normal photography too :-)

I made the border I'm showcasing our other work here to make it look like real film using Photoshop, it was a lot of fun to do. I'll explain that in another article.

Lazy Susan

We gave her a twirl

We made a Book of Circles and here is an example of one of the most popular circles from the series, Circle #7

Have you ever been to a Chinese or Japanese restaurant and occasionally there's a little wooden device in front of you often with lovely tempting food, sauces and dips? It actually has a name, Lazy Susan.

We decided to invest into a wooden one and placed several colored tea lights on top and gave it a spin.

We discovered if we mixed lights and speeds we could produce some amazing results.

Would you like to try?

You need to ensure that the Lazy Susan you pick has a good spin. As long as it spins well there are all sorts of styles, colors and finishes you can choose from as you can still use it as a turntable for your guests at the next family gathering or party you host.
